Tips to Reduce Computer Stress
Computers are an integral part of an entrepreneur's business. Down time means a loss of bussiness which translates to a loss of money. In order to keep your computer up and running at all times, follow some of these quick and affordable computer tips.
#1 - Twice the speed
Recently Comcast doubled cable modem download speeds thus making it faster to surf the Internet and download files. However, in order for the new configuration to be automatically downloaded to your modem you must first unplug your cable modem for 30 seconds, then replug it and reboot your computer.
#2 - Working from Home
Do you have trouble with the corporate CPN connection when doing dusiness from home? Usually this can easily be fixed by slightly changing your settings or by using a simple firmware upgrade.
#3 - Sudden Lost Connection
Does your computer suddently lose its Internet connection? Computer users with software-based firewalls sometimes find that their Internet connection is no longer available. Oftentimes when a software update is downloaded, it causes the original configurations to change. To test this, disable the firewall software. If the Internet connection returns, then it is a misconfiguration issue.
#4 - Slow E-mail and Internet Browsing
Your computer is working just fine and suddenly the e-mail or Internet browsing becomes awfully slow. Sound familiar? It could be that your cable connection went out. It may be that your PC and cable modem are having difficulty communicating. Try power cycling your modem.
#5 - Eliminate Popups
Many sites offer free popup blockers with toolbars. Google is one such site. Download the toolbar at www.toolbar.google.com. You must be using Microsoft Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP and Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or later. The popup blocker requires Internet Explorer 5.5 or later.
